Huffington Post Not Buying NBC's Entertainment/News 'Separation' Spin

After the RNC said they would refuse to partner with NBC and CNN should they follow through on their announced projects about Hillary Clinton, NBC responded with the claim that their news and entertainment divisions are separate; that one division has absolutely nothing to do with the other.

Even the left-wing Huffington Post isn’t buying that.

In a piece published Thursday, the Huffington Post reminds its readers that the synergy between the news and entertainment divisions of the major networks regularly bleed over. NBC’s “Today Show” frequently promotes its parent company’s entertainment shows and various NBC anchors have made appearances on “Saturday Night Live.”

HuffPo does miss one major point. How many times have we seen a “Saturday Night Live” skit that skewers a Republican repeated endlessly on NBC News?

When Tina Fey took on Sarah Palin in 2008, clips of Fey’s vicious attempts to marginalize Palin spent more time on NBC News than Brian Williams.

“Separation” is as phony a concept at NBC News as “objectivity.”
