Hasselbeck Lifts Fox; New Lows for CNN's 'New Day'

After week one, Elisabeth Hasselbeck’s arrival as one of three co-anchors of Fox and Friends  has given cable’s number-one morning show a ratings lift over the previous week and the same week last year: 20% in total viewers, 18% in the 25-54 demo.  TV Newser notes that the breaking news around the Navy Yard shootings does not appear to be the reason. By Friday, after the coverage had died down, ratings remained strong.  

Last week, in total viewers, Fox and Friends’ 1.27 million viewers beat MSNBC’s Morning Joe and CNN’s New Day combined.

New Day’s numbers have actually dropped, and on Friday during the 6-7am hour, CNN’s new morning show was only able to attract 50,000 viewers in the all-important 28-54 demo.
