Breitbart Editor-in-Chief: Tea Party Movement 'Future of America'

In an extensive interview on Breitbart News Sunday on Sirius XM Patriot channel 125, Breitbart News Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow said he believed the Tea Party represented the future of the country.

In addition to addressing the South Carolina Tea Party Coalition Convention in Myrtle Beach next week, Marlow will be the MC for part of it. Breitbart’s Brandon Darby will be addressing a breakout session at the convention, and Breitbart’s Matthew Boyle will also be reporting from the event in what is arguably the most important Republican presidential primary state.

Marlow, who has vowed that Breitbart News will relentlessly hold the establishment and the mainstream press to account, said covering such conventions in places like the Palmetto State is important because Republicans cannot win national elections or successfully combat the left if the Tea Party grassroots are not energized and motivated.

Marlow simply declared, “The Tea Party is the future of America.”

Marlow noted to Breitbart News Executive Chairman and host Stephen K. Bannon that just after Obama’s re-election in 2012, how polling, including a poll conducted by Breitbart News and Public Opinion Strategies, shows that Americans are still pro-Second Amendment, want to enforce the nation’s immigration laws, believe in limited government (especially in terms of taxes), and distrust the mainstream press.

Marlow said it was “stupid” for the Republican establishment and groups like the Chamber of Commerce to spend $50 million to attack the Tea Party and silence conservatives with powerful voices, instead of using that money to help the conservative movement build media and educational edifices “so we can play at the left’s level in terms of informing hearts and minds.”

Marlow also said the Republican establishment and their preferred candidates–like Republican New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie–do not have “fighting media outlets” on their side, those that can help them win victories. He said Christie is realizing this while his administration is being engulfed by a traffic scandal after it was revealed that last year his two top aides ordered lanes on the George Washington Bridge closed. According to Marlow, the Republican establishment is not as effective in fighting back as the conservative grassroots are.

Marlow said conservatives still have a ways to go to combat the left. He mentioned that even though liberal values do not represent a majority of the country, President Barack Obama is able to win national elections because the left has their “lists” that they use to turn out their grassroots, while the Republican establishment–like Mitt Romney–often ignore the conservative grassroots.

Marlow asserted that the key to saving the country is for the Tea Party grassroots to be excited and activated for elections so Republicans can get “as many people aligned with the Tea Party and go out and vote and fight so we have an infrastructure for the future.” He said conservatives have to organize and understand the “power of the list” to combat liberals.

Marlow, who was the late Andrew Breitbart’s first hire, said the two saw the power of the Tea Party up close and personal when Breitbart, whom Marlow described as a “libertarian-style California conservative,” really found his voice when he started to immerse himself in the Tea Party movement after President Barack Obama’s election.

Breitbart News will be providing extensive coverage of the South Carolina Tea Party Coalition Convention next week on Breitbart.com and on Breitbart News Sunday
