Barbara Walters Says 'It Would Be Nice' if a Man Replaced Her on 'The View'

During an interview with Extra‘s AJ Calloway, Barbara Walters noted that “it would be nice” to see a male co-host replace her when she leaves The View.

Walters, who founded the women’s morning chat show in 1997, announced in May last year that she intended to leave the show in 2014. She has since confirmed that her last show will be May 15.

But Walters shocked everyone by saying she liked the thought of having a man replace her when she leaves the 18-year-old show.

“These women are wonderful, and I don’t know, maybe, maybe we’ll add a man… ah, what a thought,” Walters told Calloway.

“I think we’ll try some different people, and I think it would be nice to add a man, stay tuned,” she added.
