CNN's Costello Apologizes for 'Enjoying' Violence Against Bristol Palin

CNN anchor Carol Costello has apologized for mocking the audio this week of a tearful Bristol Pail describing being assaulted at a party that became the stuff of tabloid speculation last month.

“Over the past few days I have been roundly criticized for joking about a brawl involving the Palin family. In retrospect, I deserve such criticism and would like to apologize,” Costello said Thursday in a statement to Dylan Byers of Politico.

In her own blog post, Bristol Palin highlighted the hypocrisy of the media in celebrating a violent assault against a conservative woman, amidst a nationwide campaign to prevent violence against women generally.
