After 14 Months Al Jazeera America Ratings Remain a Statistical Zero

Although available in 60 million homes for more than a year, the ratings for Al Jazeera America (AJA) are so bad, it is hard to find the  words. AJA is averaging only 14,000 total day viewers and 18,000 primetime viewers. Statistically that’s zero.

Incredibly, that’s down almost 50% from Current TV’s ratings, and Current TV’s ratings were a disaster. Since purchasing Current TV from Al Gore more than a year ago, the ruling family of Qatar has poured untold millions into this failed venture.

The network’s real failure, though, is its inability to make any sort of impact in the news cycle. Not a single story, video clip, poll, or report from AJA has ever penetrated the mainstream news cycle in any way. Plenty of low-rated news shows still manage it impact the national debate. AJA is the proverbial tree that falls in the forest.
