CNN’s morning show New Day spent 93 percent of their airtime discussing a meeting between Donald Trump Jr. and a Russian lawyer, a report from the Media Research Center’s news analysis division has revealed.

The program, which aired on Wednesday from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. ET, spent 93 percent of the show discussing Donald Trump Jr’s decision to release a series of private emails from June 2016, exchanged before he met with Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya, who promised him damaging information on Hillary Clinton’s campaign.

However, the promise did not materialize, with Trump Jr. describing the meeting “opposition research.” His released email chain does not refer to any cooperation, coordination, or collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russian government.

A further 5.5 percent of the New Day broadcast was spent providing negative coverage of the GOP’s healthcare bill, and 1.5 percent on news relating to baseball, the report found.

Meanwhile, a Harvard study released in May found that 93 percent of CNN’s coverage within the Trump administration’s first 100 days was critical of the new president, concluding that it “set a new standard for negativity.”

“Trump has received unsparing coverage for most weeks of his presidency, without a single major topic where Trump’s coverage, on balance, was more positive than negative, setting a new standard for unfavorable press coverage of a president,” the authors of the study wrote.

The network, which President Donald Trump has described as “fake news” and the “enemy of the American people,” has upped its anti-Trump rhetoric in recent weeks amid a fake news scandal in which three CNN employees resigned after the network was forced to retract a hit piece on President Donald Trump and his associates.
