“The Good Wife” on CBS television will feature the hacker collective Anonymous in an upcoming episode that draws a striking parallel to the mainstream media’s representation of Anonymous in the Steubenville, Ohio rape case.
A description, according to entertainment site BWW:
On THE GOOD WIFE’s upcoming episode, titled “Sex Dolls and Videotape,” as Alicia represents a girl who accuses a classmate of rape, the case takes on a life of its own when the hacker group “Anonymous” takes notice and brings the trial into the public eye via the Internet.
While Anonymous may have brought attention to the Steubenville case, not all of it was necessarily good. Frank Bruzzese, an assistant prosecutor for Jefferson County, Ohio who assisted in the early stage of the investigation, explained to Breitbart News:
“The internet lynch mob did damage to their own stated goal of helping the victim by putting her in an international spotlight that only served to humiliate her. Anonymous claimed to want justice but their threats had the opposite effect; by calling for the scalps of eyewitnesses and other completely innocent people, the result was a hampered prosecution where people were afraid to testify and where the judge was forced to grant three witnesses immunity.”
It will be interesting to see if “The Good Wife” portrays anything resembling those challenges in its upcoming episode.
