'Elites' Cause Widespread Reconsideration of Meaning of Word 'Elite'

In response to NY Times Author ‘Assumed’ Weiner Had Stopped Sexting:

Of course, again prompting the question we have to keep asking, are they stupid and incompetent, or are they merely liars?

Over at my site I had this to say about constitutional scholar Barack Obama and the rest of the plague in DC:

It is like this:

It is like the so-called elites are no longer even pretending to be part of a democratic republic anymore.

And let me say this:

The primary problem with the so-called elites is not that they are not humble.

The primary problem with the so-called elites is not that they are not patriotic.

The primary problem with the so-called elites is not that they are not godly. They’re not, but that’s not the primary problem.

The primary problem with the so-called elites is that they are not elite,
and they are neither wise, nor intelligent, nor educated, nor
enlightened, nor superior in any fashion save two, accident of
circumstance and elevated self-regard.

They do not know what the hell they are saying, or doing, or saying, and I said saying twice because they largely do not “do.”

They almost universally come from background professions in which there is no clear and direct relationship between error and consequence — in the “doing” fields, there’s always such a connection, and people understand quite tangibly the cost of a mistake.

But this lot comes entirely from fields in which there really is no standard of performance because it’s all rather theoretical and vague and Good Excuses always trump Bad Results.

And that’s no coincidence:  They have chosen such fields because they do not wish to be ruled by the Tyranny of Records and Results.
