BBC: Pakistan Ready to Hand over Nukes to Saudi Arabia

Sources tell BBC that Saudi Arabia is planning to purchase nuclear weapons from Pakistan. According to a NATO source, “Pakistan actually has made bombs for Saudi Arabia and they are ready to go, the report said.”

Saudi Arabia has long shown interest in obtaining nuclear weapons to counter Iran’s atomic program and with Washington “warming” ties with Iran, they are preparing to make a move.

“They [Saudis] already paid for the bomb, they will go to Pakistan and bring what they need to bring,” former Israeli Military Intelligence chief Amos Yadlin said, according to the BBC.

In 2009, Saudi Arabia made it clear they would seek nuclear capacity if Iran “crossed the threshold.” In 2012, U.S. Diplomat Dennis Ross confirmed that Saudi King Abdullah warned his country would seek a nuclear bomb if Iran were to do so. “If they get nuclear weapons, we will get nuclear weapons,” Abdullah told Ross during a meeting between the two in April 2009.

ETA:  Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and General Hamid Gul, head of ISI intelligence services, dismissed the reports Pakistan was preparing to hand over nuclear weapons.

Last month, the White House urged the Senate to delay sanctions on Iran in order to allow negotiations to take place.
