Blind Man Who Survived Getting Hit by Subway Must Give Up Dog That Saved His Life

Cecil Williams who was saved by his dog earlier this week from an oncoming subway, will have to give up his dog.   Williams, who is blind, lost consciousness and fell onto Manhattan train tracks into an oncoming train. Orlando, his black lab, jumped onto the tracks, licking him until he woke up.  The train passed over Williams and Orlando and they avoided injury.

Orlando is William’s second dog and will be 11 years old in January. He will be retiring and Williams will be getting another dog. His insurance benefits will not cover a non-working dog, so he will get another service dog. If he had the money, Williams said, “I would definitely keep him.”
