Cruz Opens Up On Senate GOP Strong-Arming During Debt Ceiling Debate

Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) has spoken out on what really went down behind closed doors during the recent debt ceiling debate.

You guess it. Establishment GOP leadership tried to have its way.

GOP Senate Leadership wanted a show vote…What Mitch McConnell asked every Republican to do was to affirmatively change the Senate rules, and took our affirmative consent, because the normal Senate rules provides that you need 60 votes to do that, but by unanimous consent, by all 100 Senators agreeing to change the rules and lower the threshold to 51.

And the virtue of doing so, he explained, was that the debt ceiling would be raised, trillions more would be added, but every Republican could vote ‘No.‘-Senator Ted Cruz
