NEA Hits Gardner In Colorado With Spanish Language Ad

The National Education Association has jumped into the Colorado Senate race with a new $200,000, two week ad buy across the Denver and Colorado Springs areas.

The ad targets Republican Rep. Cory Gardner in his race against incumbent Mark Udall, D-Colo. Udall is considered vulnerable and a key to the GOP taking control of the U.S. Senate.

The NEA ad, provided first to CQ Roll Call, features five people speaking directly to camera in Spanish about their dreams for their children to get a good education.

Latinos represent a key voting block in Colorado with over 17% of the states voters identifying themselves as Hispanic, or Latino. All alliance of Democrat and left-leaning groups has already been targeting them this cycle.

The NEA ad comes on the heels of a larger Spanish-language ad buy from the SEIU, and it’s part of a larger coordinated effort among Democratic groups aimed at Latino voters in Colorado, according to an NEA spokesman. The coalition includes the SEIU, People for the American Way, Senate Majority PAC, and NEA.
