Dodgers Blue: Fans Can't Watch Games Without Time Warner Connection

Dodgers fans are experiencing a different kind of blue this season.

The L.A. faithful are furious because many can’t watch their favorite team unless they have Time Warner Cable as their content provider. Dodgers games can only be seen by the team’s new SportsNet LA channel, a destination available only via Time Warner. So fans who currently have DirecTV, Dish, Cox, Charter or FiOS are down on strikes … for the moment.

Negotiations between the new channel and the aforementioned providers are ongoing, but no timetable exists for a swift resolution.

Frustrated fans can try to watch the game at bars and restaurants but many of them do not have SportsNetLA either … Some bars and restaurants have resorted to getting two television providers to ensure they have all the games.

Time Warner is paying $8 billion over the next 25 years to broadcast the Dodgers. They cover 30 percent of the Los Angeles area, leaving the remaining 70 percent in the dark.

The Dodgers, led by Cuban superstar Yasiel Puig and Cy Young winner Clayton Kershaw, are considered one of the best ballclubs in baseball this year.
