Kidnapped California Woman Found Alive After 10 Years

An unnamed Santa Ana, California woman who was allegedly drugged, kidnapped, raped, and held captive by her mother’s boyfriend when she was just 15-year-old has been found alive by authorities, and her alleged 41-year-old captor husband arrested, 10 years after she was reported missing.

Isidro Garcia reportedly began sexually assaulting the minor, now 25, back in 2004 when he was dating her mother and living in her family’s home. Police say that Garcia assaulted the girl’s mother then drugged the girl and drove her to a house in Compton, where he locked her in a garage, according to a report released by the Santa Ana Police Department. The Santa Ana Police Department arrested Garcia after the woman found her sister on Facebook and gained the courage to contact authorities in Bell Gardens where Garcia and his victim’s wife were living.

Garcia allegedly subjected his victim to sexual, physical, and mental abuse and “repeatedly told the victim her family had given up looking for her, and if she tried to go back to them, the family would be deported,” according to the SAPD. The family had reportedly arrived here illegally from Mexico. Garcia also allegedly falsified identity documents for her.

She was forced to marry Garcia in 2007, when she was 18, and produced a child for him in 2012. They were employed at a nighttime cleaning service, in which Garcia arranged for them to work, “so he could keep a close eye on the victim,” according to the police report.

The case has been submitted to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office for consideration. Garcia was taken into custody on suspicion of kidnapping for rape, lewd acts with a minor, and false imprisonment according to the police report.
