Fluke Leads Fundraising Ahead of State Senate Primary

Analysis of the top three candidates vying for Senator Ted Lieu’s seat in the 26th District shows that Sandra Fluke is the winningest fundraiser over the last two months, topping her top two competitors Ben Allen and Amy Howorth.

The figures released on Thursday by the California Secretary of State show that Fluke has raised $300,000 this period, while Allen and Howorth have both raised just half of that figure, with Howorth just $1k ahead of Allen.

Howorth, however, has the most cash to spend of all three, weighing in just shy of $162,000 in her campaign war chest. Fluke is next with $108,000 in spending money. Allen lags in that department with $34,000 in spending money. Howorth has also spent the most money thus far out of all three with $534,000, which has gone into her campaign since the beginning of this year.

With less than two weeks to go until the June 3 primary election, fiscal lucrativeness could be just one of the determining factors in which candidates can most successfully appeal to voters and rally support to advance to November’s general election.
