A man involved in a “family dispute” with his ex-wife had to be rescued from inside her chimney early Monday morning after sliding down in an effort to get into her house, Orange County authorities told local television station KTLA.
O.C. Sheriff’s Department Lt. Mark Kiernan said the man got stuck toward the bottom of the chimney after trying to drop down “Santa-Claus”-style. The rescue team reportedly had to take apart the chimney to free the man.
The report notes that the man suffered only mild injuries, but the outcome could have been much worse; last year, a doctor attempting to get into her boyfriend’s home died after getting stuck in the chimney for days.
