LA, NYC Mayors Stanley Cup Bet: Loser Sings on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live'

This week, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti challenged New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio to a bet.

Depending on which of the mayors’ teams wins the Stanley Cup Final, the Mayor rooting for the losing team will be forced to sing on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, which is filmed in Garcetti’s old stomping grounds, Hollywood.

According to deadline.com, if the Los Angeles Kings lose, Mayor Garcetti will need to appear on Kimmel’s show and sing Frank Sinatra’s “New York, New York.” If the New York Rangers lose, Mayor de Blasio will be singing Randy Newman’s “I Love LA.”

A tasty twist was also thrown into the bet. If Garcetti’s King’s lose, he will be providing Kimmel’s audience with hot dogs from Pink’s bustling La Brea Avenue stand. If de Blasio’s Rangers are not victorious, the jaunty L.A. anthem will be accompanied by hot dogs from NY’s famous Gray’s Papaya, which now has a location in Hollywood.

So far the count is Garcetti: 1, de Blasio: 0, as the Rangers beat the Kings in Game One last night, scoring in overtime to finish 3-2.
