CA State Senator Welcomes Iraqi Christians to The USA

California State Senator Joel Anderson is sponsoring a bill calling for President Barack Obama to eliminate quotas and speed up the process for Iraqi Christian refugees to enter the United States.

Fox 5 reported that Bill SJR17 directs the State Department to coordinate with Iraq, other neighboring countries, the Kurds, and the Chaldean community within the United States to help the fleeing Christians gain sanctuary in the United States. Breitbart News Director of National Security, Sebastian Gorka, considers the persecution of Christians by Islamic State, formerly known as ISIS, as nothing less than a Christian holocaust.

Anderson said we should be assisting Christians as we have helped out others in the past. “We reached out in WWII. We reached out at different times in history to help people when they were at the hand of genocide,” he said.

Chaldean American Chamber of Commerce President Ben Kalasho doesn’t support Anderson’s bill. He insists that “The choices shouldn’t be: Do you want to get massacred by Isis or do you want to have a mass evacuation? There should be a third choice, and that’s what we’re working for.”

Kalasho wants a United Nations effort to establish a 20th province in Iraq for Christians. “Basically, a safe haven for Christians and other minorities; that way they can hang on and preserve the heritage, the history, the culture,” he said.

Nevertheless, Anderson thinks President Obama will be on his side and allow for the hundreds of thousands of Iraqi Christians to enter America. “We’re not saying you’re becoming a U.S. citizen. We’re simply saying you may flee to the United States,” he said.
