Kids Born After 9/11 Learn at Sacramento Remembrance Park

Thousands of people will visit a West Sacramento memorial park over the next few days to commemorate the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

The park features thousands of small American flags, arranged neatly in rows; one flag for each American life lost on 9/11 is planted at the site. John Vinson has been tending to the remembrance site for the past seven years, adding flags for Americans killed in terrorist attacks since 9/11, including those killed in attacks at the Boston Marathon and in Benghazi, Libya, according to Northern California Fox affiliate Fox 40.

Vinson is still debating where to plant two flags to remember the latest victims of terror, journalists James Foley and Steven Sotloff, who were brutally beheaded by ISIS just a few weeks ago.

“We see a lot of tears here. And a lot of pride,” Vinson said in the report.

For children born after 9/11, the memorial site provides a window into the event that changed America and the rest of the world’s security forever.

Cyndi Eckler recently brought her daughter, Natalie, to the park. Natalie was not yet born on September 11, 2001, but that doesn’t mean she cannot appreciate the sacrifices made on that day.

“It still hurts my feelings that all these people died,” Natalie told Fox 4o.

“We are proud,” Cyndi Eckler said. “We are strong, as a nation. It’d be nice if we had peace in this world. But we don’t have it yet.”
