'Topless Teacher' Scandal: California Educator Becomes Victim of Student Bullying

School administrators at Pitman High School in Turlock, California have been trying to refute rumors that a photo of a topless woman that has been circulated around social media by students is their English teacher.

“She’s extremely upset. Very upset and rightfully so…Nothing she did caused this other than being a staff member at Pitman High School,” said Principal Rod Hollars to the local CBS News affiliate in Sacramento.

The rumors started on Tuesday, and the search is on for a student who sent out a tweet of a woman who is topless from the waist up, which prompted fellow students to retweet the image, saying it was of their English teacher.

The school has reportedly spent two days trying to clear the teacher’s name. Hollars said his staff is pulling students who commented on or shared the image out of class to interview them regarding the incident, CBS notes.

Hollars has even warned his staff that they could be next. “I’m warning it could be anybody, at any time…To me, everybody’s at risk.”
