3D-printed gun designer Cody Wilson is partnering with San Diego’s Ares Armor to distribute the Ghost Gunner machine, Wilson’s latest invention which allows people to create untraceable AR-15s from home.
According to the San Francisco Business Times, the deal between Wilson’s Defense Distributed and Ares Armor is not yet complete, but is in the latter stages. Wilson said: “I think there aren’t actually any problems right now. We just have to work it out on paper.”
He has been sending parts to Ares Armor so “he can see a working product in person.”
When Wilson tried to sell the Ghost Gunner machine on his own, he quickly realized his company could not handle the logistics tied to demand. He offered the machines for sale and as demand rose he increased the price hoping to slow sales. Instead, sales continued to climb so he halted them after “[accumulating] a waiting list 200 people long.”
The machine allows a citizen to put 3D-printed components together with an unfinished receiver to create an operational, untraceable AR-15. Ares Armor currently sells the receivers for $62.92.
Ares Armor owner Dimitrios Karras said, “In my opinion, an armed society is a just society.”
