Woman Stuck in Chimney Arrested After Rescue

A woman who became stuck in a chimney at a home in Thousand Oaks, California was arrested after being pulled out by Ventura County firefighters early Sunday morning.

Geneveva Nunez-Figueroa, 30, of Thousand Oaks, was arrested on suspicion of illegal entry and giving false information to a peace officer, according to the Ventura County Star.

Ventura County Sheriff’s Office deputies reportedly responded to a report of a woman crying in the 1900 block of Woodside Drive. When the deputies arrived, they found Nunez-Figueroa stuck inside the chimney of a home.

Ventura County Fire Department spokesman Captain Ron Oatman told the Star that fire crews at one point had to use dish soap to lubricate the chimney in order to get the woman out. Firefighters also reportedly had to destroy the chimney.

“We destroyed the chimney and probably did some damage to the roof,” Oatman told the Star.

Authorities said in the report that Nunez-Figueroa knew the owner of the house, but did not disclose the nature of their relationship.
