Police in southeast San Francisco are investigating a string of anti-Chinese spray-painted taggings, which were discovered this past weekend, as both acts of vandalism and hate crimes.

“No More Chinese” graffiti was spray-painted onto several walls, as well as the cement sidewalks, in the Portola neighborhood this past Sunday, and included the Palega Recreation Center, a supermarket that is out of business, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

At least five locations have been reported as having the anti-Chinese message painted onto them.

Many Bay Area residents have directed their anger at the rising costs of living towards Chinese buyers, who are using cash to purchase already hard-to-touch real estate for more money and driving up prices as a result.

Breitbart News also reported on the influx of maternity homes where Chinese and Taiwanese foreign nationals are spending up to $30,000 to give birth to children in the United States.

Police have requested that anyone with information on the tagging crime contact them by calling (415) 575-4444 or texting TIP411 with “SFPD” at the start of the message.
