UCLA football player Adam Searl was arrested Thursday on suspicion of sexual assault from almost a year ago.

A University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) student reported the alleged rape on October 19, 2014, according to a statement from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). The report states that the woman met the suspect outside of an off-campus party in the Westwood area. The two then went to a nearby residence.

The statement further alleges that the woman “fell asleep and awoke to discover the suspect sexually assaulting her.” An investigation that involved the UC Police identified 20-year-old UCLA student Searl to LAPD detectives.

Searl was taken into custody and booked on three counts of rape, and bail was set at $300,000. The L.A. County District Attorney’s office is expected to consider the case for felony status on October 13.

“We have been informed of the situation involving Adam Searl, and we take these accusations very seriously,” Bruins Head Coach Jim Mora said in a statement, according to the Los Angeles Times. “Adam has been suspended from the team indefinitely while the legal process runs its course. Due to the ongoing police investigation, we are unable to discuss this matter further at this time.”

Information for Searl on the UCLA Bruins website states that he is a political science major. Searl is listed as a native of Irvine, California, and graduate of Irvine High School. He saw his first game time for the Bruins in 2014.

A Facebook account for an Adam Searl shows attendance at UCLA and start date in June 2013. Prior education shows attendance at Irvine High School. A photo post from mid-September shows Searl with a girl who appears also in a mid-July photo of the two.

No further details were released in the LAPD release regarding Searl’s accuser.
