Sriracha, the famous California red chili pepper sauce, will now be offered in packets, making the sauce more convenient to transport than the bottles in which it had been packaged before.
On Wednesday, Sriracha2Go posted a photo on Facebook that showed the various sizes of containers in which the sauce was already offered, from a 28-ounce bottle to the mini key chain size, followed by a question mark and a titillating caption: “2016 is about to get spicier… Hot news coming tomorrow.”
As reported by Fox 5 San Diego, the new packets look like this (above). The producer of Sriracha, Huy Fong Foods, Inc., of Irwindale, celebrated on Facebook, “Sriracha2Go has done it again, changing the Sriracha game in a major way!”
The packets, which are sold in 50-packet and 200-packet portions, can be ordered online: 50 packets sell for $14.99 and 200 packets sell for $34.99.
In May 2014, the Irwindale City Council dropped a lawsuit against the Sriracha hot sauce factory and rescinded a resolution declaring the factory a public nuisance for its smell, according to the Los Angeles Times.
