Former Democratic presidential candidate and governor of Maryland Martin O’Malley delivered a blistering attack on Donald Trump Wednesday night, saying “to hell” with his “American nightmare.”

O’Malley, delivering his biting remarks at the Democratic National Convention on Wednesday, said “to hell with Trump’s American nightmare. We believe in the American dream.” He said Hillary Clinton “will stand up to ISIS. She will stand up to the Russians. And with Tim Kaine at her side, she will never stop fighting for our children and our families, because Hillary Clinton knows that when or families are strong, America is strong.”

He suggested that, conversely, Trump “feeds off of economic fears and failures” and “turns anger into a political weapon… Anger never fed a hungry child, did it? Anger never protected a family’s home or sent a kid to college. Anger never built a great republic,” O’Malley said of the man he described as a “bully.” He added, “DonaldTrump’s opinion of himself, that’s way too high.”

On climate change, he said: “Hillary Clinton believes in science. She understands that climate change is not only a real threat, it’s also the greatest job creation opportunity to come to the United States in over 100 years.” He suggested, conversely, that Trump “does not believe in science.”

Taking yet another jab at the GOP presidential nominee, O’Malley quoted a now-infamous past-time quote from Trump in which he said “the concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese.”

O’Malley was referring to a tweet sent out by Trump in 2012. He added, “If the Chinese were really capable of creating some kind of diabolical farce to hurt America, they wouldn’t create global warming, they’d invent Donald Trump.”

Then, in an attempt to discredit Trump’s plan to build a wall that will help curb the nation’s illegal immigration problem, O’Malley said “unlike that immigrant-bashing, carnival-barker Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton understands the enduring symbol of the United States of America is not a barbed wire fence — it is the Statue of Liberty.”
