Clyburn: Biden Should Be ‘More Careful, But I Know Where His Heart Is’

On Saturday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “AM Joy,” House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-SC) weighed in on the debate between 2020 Democratic candidates former Vice President Joe Biden and Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) by stating that he thinks Biden’s remarks on working with segregationists were mistaken, “but I know where his heart is.”

Clyburn said, “I think that Joe made a big mistake in not telling the story from the perspective of his position. If he had said, he never called me senator, then that would have been one thing. So, I understand Cory, and I also understand Joe.”

He later added, “I know where his heart is…and I would hope that he would spend a little more time, be a little more careful, but I know where his heart is. Joe doesn’t feel that way at all, and he has to understand, sometimes, you put yourself in the other person’s place.”
