Booker: I Demand Trump Open Up Obamacare Enrollment — ‘To Not Do So Is Cruel’

Thursday, Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) demanded President Donald Trump reopen the enrollment period for people to sign up for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act in light of the coronavirus outbreak.

Booker said, “The simple request that this president open up the enrollment for the Affordable Care Act is common sense. To not do so is cruel. There are thousands of New Jerseyans who don’t have health insurance that if we open up the enrollment period, they would be able to get affordable health insurance to help them with any of the costs related to this pandemic or frankly to any other health issues. We have got to start looking ahead of the curve now and anticipating the needs of our citizenry.”

He continued, “I am demanding, not calling upon, demanding that the president of the United States open up the enrollment period so that millions of Americans that are eligible can sign up and get affordable health care  to help make sure that they and their families are safe and healthy, that they do preventive care measures that ultimately will not just save us money but will save lives.”

He added, “Open up the enrollment period, Mr. President. Open it up so all Americans can be covered.”
