TCM, Fathom Events to Bring Four Classic Movies Back to Theaters this Fall

Turner Classic Movies and NCM Fathom Events are teaming up to offer something new to theaters nationwide – old movies that stand the test of time.

Fathom Events and TCM will bring back “The Birds” (Sept. 19), “Frankenstein” and “The Bride of Frankenstein” (Oct. 24 double feature) and “To Kill a Mockingbird” (Nov. 15) this fall.

It’s part of the public’s obvious hunger for timeless tales. While modern movies like “The Avengers” and “Ted” continue to haul in cash, classic films are also proving popular at the cineplex. Fathom Events and TCM presented “The Wizard of Oz” in 2009, “West Side Story” in 2011 and “Casablanca” in March to sold-out theaters across the country.

The TCM Classic Film Series will feature newly restored prints as part of Universal Pictures’ 100th anniversary. The movies will be introduced by TCM’s own Robert Osbourne. The affable film fan will take audiences behind the scenes for these film classics, and the presentations will also include exclusive interviews conducted at the recent TCM Classic Film Festival.

“Fathom Events has experienced great success in bringing classic anniversary events to movie theaters around the country over the past several years,” Shelly Maxwell, executive vice president of NCM Fathom Events, said in a statement announcing the series. “This agreement with TCM enables us to offer audiences a chance to experience these four classics on the big screen once again.”

Tickets for the screenings will go on sale July 27 at FathomEvents.com.
