Fourth 'Narnia' Movie Going into Production

The Narnia film franchise, one that appeared to stall after the lukewarm reception for Dawn Treader, will continue with a fourth movie based on C.S. Lewis’ saga.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair will be a joint production between Mark Gordon and The C.S. Lewis Co., according to Variety.

The first “Narnia” was a surprise success with $745 million in worldwide box office. “Prince Caspian” took in $420 million and “Dawn Treader” grossed $415 million.

The film series delivers action, fantasy and the kind of Christian themes fans of Lewis’ work have applauded for decades.

“This is exciting news for ‘Narnia’ fans and a much needed reboot. The real question that will determine its success is how much control Lewis’ stepson Doug Gresham will be given to ensure that ‘Narnia’ fans feel that these movies stay faithful and true to C.S. Lewis’ original vision,” says Mark Joseph, author of The Lion, The Professor & The Movies: Narnia’s Journey to the Big Screen. “It is always an uphill climb to revive a series that has lots its mojo, but it’s not by any stretch of the imagination impossible.”
