Eddie Murphy's Lawyer Calls $50 Million Defamation Suit 'Absolutely Ridiculous'

Eddie Murphy’s legal team is confident a hefty defamation lawsuit against the Beverly Hills Cop star will be quickly dismissed.

Comedian Brando Murphy, no relation, is suing the Saturday Night Live alum for $50 million, claiming the Oscar nominee is trying to derail his career.

TMZ has the peculiar details, including the fact that Brando Murphy once appeared in a stage act featuring the famous kin of other comics like Richard Pryor. The lesser-known Murphy says he never claimed to be the SNL alum’s child.

It looks like Brando is trying out new material in his lawsuit, saying, “The name Murphy is of Irish decent … and not exclusive to Eddie Murphy, a ‘Black Man’ of African Ancestry and a purported African American.”

As for Eddie’s grumblings that Brando tries to look and act like him, Brando fires back, “[i] did not create [myself] and that the way [I] looks is an act of GOD.

Eddie Murphy’s lawyer, Marty Singer, dubbed the suit “absolutely ridiculous.”
