Obama Has Met with Comedian Zach Galifianakis as Many Times as Kathleen Sebelius

After President Barack Obama met two weeks ago for a one-on-one “interview” with Zach Galifianakis for the comedian’s mock interview program, he had attended the same number of meetings to discuss Obamacare with the actor as he has with his Health and Human Services Secretary since Obamacare passed.

The nonpartisan Government Accountability Institute released a shocking report last December that found that since Obamacare was signed into law on March 23, 2010, there has not been a single documented instance in which Obama met one-on-one with Sebelius. There was, though, “one instance of Secretary Sebelius meeting jointly with the President and Secretary of the Treasury Timothy Geithner.”

The day after the report was released, the White House and the Health and Human Services department announced that Obama and Sebelius had a meeting at the White House. Last month, The Hill obtained additional documents that revealed “Sebelius met with or attended calls and events with Obama at least 18 times between Oct. 27, 2012, and Oct. 6, 2013, including at least seven instances in which the two were scheduled to discuss the new healthcare law.”

That information was based on Sebelius’s draft schedules, which could have undergone changes. Neither the White House nor the Health and Human Services Department has provided documentation that Sebelius and Obama had a formal, one-on-one meeting since the passage of Obamacare.

At a congressional hearing in December, Sebelius became flustered when asked how many times she met with Obama since the passage of Obamacare.
