McDonald's Plays 'I Wanna Sex You Up' in Kiddie Area, Upsets Local Mom

BEAVERTON, Ore., May 16 (UPI)–An Oregon mother didn’t feel like lighting a candle or disconnecting the phone when she heard a blast from the past being played, she felt like calling the local TV station.

A Beaverton mom using the name “Suzie” was filled with disgust instead of nostalgia when she went to a local McDonald’s with her children and heard Color Me Badd’s 1991 hit “I Wanna Sex You Up” booming through the speakers.

Suzie told KATU “she now knows the song too well” and that her two children now know it, too.

“We went to McDonalds yesterday because it was super hot and I wanted my kids to be able to play,” Suzie said. “The kids were playing for a little bit [in the play area] and then I heard a song come on and it was singing ‘I Wanna Sex You Up.’ My daughter came up to me about halfway through the song, being six years old and curious, asked me what ‘sex you up’ means.”

According to the station, the McDonald’s also plays ’90s tunes like Blackstreet’s “No Diggity” and “The Boy is Mine” by Brandy and Monica.

McDonald’s franchise owner Don Armstrong released a statement about the issue:

“We began investigating this matter once we were made aware of it. We’ll continue to gather facts and determine what may have occurred. We strive to provide customers with a comforting and enjoyable environment whenever they visit our restaurant.”

According to a supervisor at the McDonald’s, the music that is played at the restaurant is not controlled at the local level.
