Chris Colfer Says He Was 'Let Go' from 'Glee' over 'Personal Issues'

LOS ANGELES, July 3 (UPI) — Chris Colfer announced on Twitter Thursday that he had been “let go” from Fox’s hit series, Glee.

“Due to personal issues, I have been let go from the cast of GLEE. Explanations will come shortly…” the actor wrote around midday.

Colfer played Kurt Hummel on the show since the series began in May 2009. The 24-year-old actor has received several awards for his role on the musical comedy, including Best Supporting Actor in a Series, Miniseries or Television Film at the 2011 Golden Globe Awards and two People’s Choice Awards for Favorite Comedic TV Actor in 2013[6] and 2014.

News of Colfer’s departure comes almost two months after Fox’s Chairman of Entertainment Kevin Reilly confirmed Glee would come to an end after its upcoming sixth season.

Colfer, Lea Michele, Matthew Morrison, Jenna Ushkowitz, Kevin McHale and Naya Rivera are a few of the original cast members that were set to star in the show’s last season, which is expected to air in 2015 on Fox.
