Actress and gun control advocate Alyssa Milano is warning Americans that stockpiling guns “could have dire consequences.”

“Stockpiling weapons could have dire consequences for our own personal safety and those around us,” Milano said, issuing a warning on Thursday, as gun stores across America are witnessing historic runs on firearms and ammunition.

On April 2, 2020, Breitbart News reported that March 2020 shattered record for the number of National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) checks conducted in one month, with a total of 3,740,688 checks.

The number of checks is not a perfect representation of the number of guns purchased, as a person can purchase numerous guns upon passing a check.  Despite that–and despite the fact that a percentage of the checks are the result of state-level requirements for concealed carry permit holders and do not deal with gun purchases at all — empty gun store shelves and the testimony of gun manufacturers demonstrates that a sales boom is under way.

Amid this boom, Milano is warning Americans against stockpiling guns and ammunition:

As Milano pleads for Americans to “stop the coronavirus gun surge,” she overlooks the fact that the surge itself is proof that large numbers of Americans are taking solace in guns, rather than gun control, during the unease that taints day-to-day life at this time.

On April 9, 2020, Breitbart News reported that Milano sought to bolster her criticism of the current buying surge by suggesting that guns purchased legally today can be used for crime tomorrow. She said, “The weapons that people are buying today could end up being used in households, schools, churches, bars, and on our streets in the future. So we all have to look out for each other.”

Ironically, Milano’s criticism of Americans arming up at a time like this did not contain any mention of the fact that she owns guns for self-defense.

On September 11, 2019, Breitbart News quoted Milano saying, “I have two guns in my household for self-defense, just so you know.”
