'Hitler-obsessive' Neo-Nazi Planned to Bomb UK Mosques

A Merseyside-based Neo-Nazi who plotted to blow up two mosques with nail-bombs has been branded ‘evil’ by a judge.

Ian Charles Forman, 42, of Wirral, was found guilty of plotting to explode bombs filled with nails and ball-bearings at the Penny Lane Mosque and Wirral Islamic Centre.

The Liverpool Echo reports that he had downloaded images of the two mosques, labelling them “target one” and “target two”, then posted videos to YouTube boasting about how was going to blow them up.

The jury heard how Mr Forman stockpiled potassium nitrate, sulphur and charcoal, and even went as far as drawing up a spreadsheet of chemicals he needed, including prices and the locations where he could buy them.

He was arrested last June when police searched his house and found various chemicals, a crude home-made explosive device and a replica Nazi uniform.

Forman’s Facebook profile shows him posing at Berchtesgaden, home of the Berghof, Hitler’s summer retreat in the Bavarian Alps. One photo shows a path in the woods, with Forman commenting “The start of the path leading to his tea house (his daily afternoon walk)“.

Judge Paul Dodgson said: “The defendant had, in my judgement, very extreme and evil thoughts – I think the word evil is appropriate.

“As the jury found, he at some points had the intention of carrying those evil thoughts out.

“For his sentencing there must be a message sent out by the court that this behaviour is regarded with extreme gravity.

“There will be a lengthy custodial sentence – of that there is no doubt.”
