TEL AVIV – The Commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) Aerospace Force boasted that Iran is now capable of designing and producing all the missiles and aircraft it needs, the state-supported news agency Tasnim reported.

In a speech on Thursday, Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh also praised the “liberation” of Aleppo, saying it was a “major defeat” for the West, especially the U.S., the report said.

“Iran is now capable of designing and producing any needed missiles and aircraft,” Hajizadeh said.

While Tehran has said its military muscle does not threaten other countries, Hajizadeh said Iran is producing weapons because the country has “taken the animosity of its enemies” seriously.

In December, Breitbart Jerusalem, citing the regime-controlled Fars news agency, reported Hajizadeh’s claim that the Islamic Republic has manufactured “shortcut methods to produce inexpensive missiles” amid threats to “retaliate” if the Iran Sanctions Act is extended for another decade.

Toward the end of the year, the Deputy Chief of Iran’s Atomic Energy Agency (AEOI) claimed that the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program was in better condition since signing the nuclear deal with world powers in July 2015. Behrouz Kamalvandi said, “We are now in possession of some new reactors that are much technically superior to their previous versions.”

Around the same time, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani announced that he had fulfilled his campaign pledge for a program aimed at developing nuclear propulsion systems that will begin in the near future.
