TEL AVIV – Israeli company ImageSat International published satellite photos of the damage to an Iranian military site in Syria from Tuesday’s airstrike that was attributed to Israel.
Two large hangars between the towns of Masyaf and Wadi al-Uyun were destroyed, as well as entrances to underground tunnels.
According to the Syrian military, its air defenses successfully intercepted several Israeli missiles, but such claims in the past have often been debunked.
Shortly before the attack, Israel’s military admitted that it had conducted raids against more than 200 Iranian and Hezbollah targets including military bases and advanced weapons shipments in Syria over the past year in an attempt to curb Iranian military entrenchment in the war-torn country.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told ministers at Wednesday’s weekly cabinet meeting that Israel was working to halt the production of precision missiles in Syria.
“Israel is determined to prevent Iran and its proxies from establishing a military presence in Syria,” Netanyahu said.
“We are taking strong action against these attempts and against the attempts to produce precision weaponry in all sectors, near and far. We will continue to take such action on behalf of the security of Israel,” he added.
