Coachella Marks First Death from OD

Kimchi Truong, 24, of Oakland, California, has died of an overdose from drugs or alcohol while attending the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. She reportedly collapsed around 2 AM on Saturday and was transported to JFK Memorial Hospital in Indo and thereafter to Desert Regional Medical Center.

She died on Thursday at 2:30 PM. The sheriff’s office commented that this death was the first from Coachella Music Festival this year and that toxicology reports will take approximately a month to be completed and finalized.

This marks the third death from a drug overdose at Coachella. In 2008, a man died at a campground offsite; in 2012, an employee was killed while directing traffic.
