Singer Lauryn Hill, whose career of late has taken a back seat to her legal woes, is using one of her songs to spotlight the tensions in Ferguson, MO.
The former Fugees star uploaded a song called Black Rage (Sketch) to honor the citizens of Ferguson.
The music may hearken back to the Sound of Music classic My Favorite Things, but the lyrics reflect on the trauma black Americans have suffered in the past.
Black rage is founded on two-thirds a person / Rapings and beatings and suffering that worsens / Black human packages tied up with strings / Black rage can come from all these kinds of things / Black rage is founded on blatant denial / Squeezed economics, subsistence survival / Deafening silence and social control / Black rage is founded on wounds in the soul.
Hill admitted in 2012 to not paying taxes on more than $1.8 million earned during a three-year span and was sentenced to three months in prison.
