A gypsy gang have reportedly cut off the penis of a man they believed had slept with one of their girlfriends. A 22 year old man has been taken into custody in relation to the incident earlier today in Middlesborough.
Cleveland Police cordoned off the A66 in an attempt to locate the severed penis, having discovered the 40 year old victim by the road earlier.
The incident took place near an ASDA supermarket and a member of staff at the store claimed to have heard what had happened. He said: “A few of the Asda staff have been talking and apparently it was some gypsy men doing it to another guy after they found out he had slept with one of their girlfriends. I don’t know his name but that seems to be what I have heard.”
Police have refused to confirm the exact nature of the man’s injuries but would say he was found at 4.50am with serious injuries and was taken to hospital by ambulance. They also commenced a major search of the area, lasting until midday.
A police spokesman said: The road closures were required as part of the investigation into how the man received his injuries. This is necessary so that officers can look for anything which may shed light on how he became injured or his direction of travel.”
The police were also searching a Vauxhall Zafira on a nearby gypsy site.
