Syrian Jihadis Use Video to Recruit British Fighters

A video on the Twitter account of Islamic State of Iraq and Sham (ISIS) showing British men joining Islamist fighters in Syria, saying that the “doors of Jihad are still open.”

One of the men talks of bringing fellow Muslims to fight in the “blessed land of Sham” (a historical region of Syria). Another tells viewers to ignore warnings not to travel to Syria, saying there will be grave consequences from Allah of they do not travel and join the rebels.

International Business Times quotes the second man as saying, “[Allah] has enabled us to enter the blessed lands which the kaffir back home always tell you that if you plan to reach there will be a consequence for you.

“If you do not march forth, there will be a consequence for you. If you do not march forth, then wait for that punishment and the calamity that will befall you.

“Allah is the one who controls the skies, he is the one that controls the land, he is the one that controls the sea.”

The Twitter account @r_tawheed also posted a photo of British fighters in Syria, one of whom it claimed is just 16 years old.

There are growing concerns at the number of British men joining radical fighters in Syria. ISIS have broken away from the main rebel group, who they regard as “kaffir” (unbelievers), and started imposing their own radical interpretation of Islamic law on the areas they control .

Al Qaeda have also reportedly disowned ISIS, and asked it to cease fighting.

The video of the British fighters has since been removed from YouTube.
