An explosion which rocked several buildings in a busy Brussels district has been confirmed as a gas-related incident.

Breitbart London‘s Brussels correspondent reported earlier: “It sounded like a bomb… I’ve heard my fair share of bombs in my time… this sounded like it… There are now sirens… My windows nearly came in”.

Sources suggested that the explosion was gas-related, with police and emergency services attending the scene within minutes.

The explosion was felt near the Parc du Cinquantenaire district in the European quarter of the Belgian capital. The area is known as a Brussels base for foreign diplomats, dignitaries, lobbyists and more.
