Video footage has emerged of the three runaway London schoolgirls in Turkey before they crossed the border into Syria.

Shamima Begum, Amira Abase, both 15, and Kadiza Sultana, 16, all appear in the video speaking to an Arab interpreter about a Syrian passport. The footage may have been filmed by an individual arrested by Turkish individuals yesterday on suspicion of being a Canadian “spy”.

Sky News reports that the film was confiscated from him after he helped the girls cross the border.

The girls left home on 17 February and flew from Gatwick to Istanbul without their parents’ knowledge. It is feared they travelled to Syria to become “Jihadi brides” for Islamic State fighters.

They are now believed to be staying in Raqqa, the de facto IS capital, with another London schoolgirl who fled last year.
