New footage shows migrants ripping down a security fence near the French port of Calais while chanting “Open the border!”.
The desperate immigrants can also been seen overwhelming French police at Calais, who look helplessly on as they storm past them. Eventually police manage to stop some by spraying tear gas, but many will have still made it through.
For nearly a week now, the migrants, who are trying to smuggle themselves on board trucks bound for the UK, have been using force of number in an attempt to break through security at the Channel Tunnel.
At least 200 have succeeded in crossing into Britain, but nine have perished in the attempt.
One migrant told the Daily Mail: “We want to go to England. We are 100. We are going to sit in the street. Tomorrow, we are going to camp in the road.”
An Ethopian lawyer, Sammy, added: “We are all one person. We all have the same idea. We are all one.” She led a crowd in chanting slogans, saying: “We are humans. We are not animals. We have rights. Stop the police. Open the borders – just like in Italy.”
