An explosion has been heard, followed by the area being evacuated, at the busy London tube station at Baker Street in the middle of the city.
At around 9pm, initial reports began to surface on Twitter of an explosion followed by an immediate police response.
The area was shut down and the station evacuated as set to deal with an “abandoned car” thought to be a silver Volkswagon Gold.
Follow up reports have claimed that the area is now being reopened, and that the car in question is believed to have just been broken down.
The explosion heard is thought to have been a controlled explosion by police.
Baker Street Station – due to an ongoing police investigation the road is closed in both directions. Indications are it will open shortly.
