Left-wing billionaire financier George Soros has called incoming President Donald Trump a “con man” and a “would-be dictator”, and predicted that Theresa May would soon be out of office in the United Kingdom, as he spoke at the elite economic conference in Davos, Switzerland.

“He would be a dictator if he could get away with it..but he won’t,” said Soros who spoke at the economic conference during the evening at the luxurious Swiss resort. Soros said that he has confidence that people in the U.S. will “fight back” against Trump and that the constitution and the division of powers in the U.S. will prevail.

He added he thinks Trump will fail in office because he claims that the ideas Trump has espoused are contradictory, speculating people will fight against the new president when he oversteps his boundaries.

Soros also predicted that the current market strength in the U.S. would likely not last very long into the first term of the 45th president saying, “Right now, uncertainty is at its peak, and uncertainty is the enemy of long-term investment”.

The cabinet picks highlighted this uncertainty according to Soros who said that there would likely be constant infighting among the inner circle of the Trump cabinet.

Soros then turned his attention to the current state of the European Union (EU) and the consequences of the Brexit vote in June of last year. He claimed that people in Europe have become alienated and that Europe as a whole had become too complicated.

He labelled the rise of populist parties like the German Alternative for Germany (AfD) or France’s Front National as “anti-European” and claimed that Europe was currently going down the wrong path.

In regards to Brexit, he said that both the UK and the EU must find common ground and that a bad breakup would hurt both sides. The negotiations would likely be a long process, he believes, but said people will come together when they realise they are heading in the wrong direction.

On the subject of Prime Minister Theresa May, Soros predicted her term as leader of the government would not last long. Saying the UK populace was “in denial”, he said that when the economic situation worsens then the people of the UK will change their attitudes and even suggested that the UK could easily rejoin the EU without Prime Minister May in charge.

George Soros’s Open Society Foundations and other organisations were revealed to have funded the Black Lives Matter movement in the U.S., various initiatives promoting the image of migrants in Europe, and even sought to use the migrant crisis to raise more money.

In his native Hungary, Soros is incredibly unpopular and a member of the ruling Fidesz party has vowed to “sweep away” organisations funded by the billionaire.
