Two Stabbed by Unknown Attacker Outside Victoria Station in London

A large police presence cordoned off an area outside Victoria railway station in central London after two men were stabbed in the late afternoon on Tuesday.

A spokesman for Scotland yard has told UK media, “Police were called at around 16:20hrs on Tuesday, 7 March to reports of a stabbing in Wilton Road, SW1, Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and found two males with stab injuries. They have been taken to a central London hospital. We await an update on their condition,” the Express reports.

“There have been no arrests and enquiries continue,” the spokesman added. A large area around the scene from Wilton Road to Victoria junction has been sealed off by the police as well as a nearby alley.

A witness on the scene said: “I came out of the station and things were calm inside but there were some youths being held by Met police outside and an increasing number of police cars were arriving. A medical team was attending to a man sitting down on a stretcher but he was conscious and speaking to an officer. It seems like there may have been a chase going on because the crime scene was split in these two locations.”

The Evening Standard has claimed another witness, a 43-year-old man who did not wish to be named, said: “I came out of the station and things were calm inside but there were some youths being held by Met police outside and an increasing number of police cars were arriving.”

The paper has also reported the two men stabbed are not in life-threatening condition according to police.

Last year a stabbing in Russel Square in London prompted concern that it could be a terrorist attack as Islamic State has taken credit for several stabbings including a police officer and his family in a suburb of the French capital of Paris.

Though the Russel Square attack was not deemed to be terrorism, the attacker, 19-year-old Zakaria Bulhan, was found with a prayer book that contained radical Islamist Salafist prayers.
