LISBON, Portugal (AP) — Portugal’s attorney general says investigators are preparing to question a Moroccan man extradited from Germany who is suspected of providing financing and recruitment assistance to the Islamic State group.

The attorney general’s office said in a statement that the man arrived in Portugal from Germany on Thursday after Portuguese authorities issued a European arrest warrant for him.

The statement said the man is suspected of belonging to and supporting a terrorist organization, which it named as the Islamic State group.

The man is suspected of carrying out the alleged criminal activities in Portugal. The statement provided no further information. Ongoing investigations are subject to Portugal’s judicial secrecy law, which forbids the disclosure of details.

Portugal has experienced no terror attacks for several decades.
